Karachi: Haleem Adil Sheikh, the head of PTI in Sindh, has been let out of Central Jail Karachi. He was there for more than five months because of cases about May 9 riots and land grabbing.
Haleem Adil Sheikh, the leader of PTI in Sindh, was released because he got bail in many cases from various courts. He was arrested on August 30, 2023, outside the Sindh High Court when he went there to ask for bail to avoid getting arrested due to the riots on May 9th.
The PTI Sindh Spokesman stated that Haleem Adil Sheikh got bail in all 40 cases filed against him in different police stations for land grabbing and the May 9 riots.
Haleem Adil Sheikh even ran in the elections for NA-238 while he was still in jail and came second with 36,875 votes. However, the seat was won by Sadiq Iftikhar from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, who got 54,884 votes.
It’s important to note that many senior PTI leaders, including former lawmakers, have been accused of causing violence and setting fires during protests against the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.
Earlier, on January 31, a local court in Karachi decided to release Haleem Adil Sheikh in cases related to the May 9 riots, where military sites were attacked after Imran Khan’s arrest. The court asked him to pay surety bonds worth Rs200,000.
