The ICC announced T20 World Cup 2024 clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India in New York on June 9. The inaugural match will showcase the United States, one of the co-hosts, facing off against Canada.

The 9th T20 World Cup, hosted jointly by the United States and the West Indies, spans June 1-29. Starting June 1 at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas, Texas, the T20 World Cup debuts with the US facing Canada. A total of 16 matches will take place in the United States, representing the first occurrence of hosting a major international cricket tournament in the country.

Lauderhill in South Florida, a premier cricket venue in the US, hosts matches with support from South Asian and Caribbean communities. ICC Chief Geoff Allardice sees the US games at the T20 World Cup as a ‘new frontier’ for global cricket expansion.

The West Indies hosts the tournament, culminating in the final in Barbados. Defending champions England begin their title defense on June 4 in Barbados, and Pakistan takes on the US in Dallas. The 20 teams are grouped into sets of five. They advance to the ‘Super Eights’ in the Caribbean—Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The top two teams proceed to the June 26/27 semi-finals in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.

Barbados will host the final on June 29.
