Khan, Bushra Bibi charged £190m NAB case.

The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Khan, Bushra Bibi have been charged in a £190-million corruption case filed by NAB.

During the hearing at Adiala Jail’s accountability court on Tuesday, Khan, Bushra Bibi, faced indictment in a £190-million graft reference. The Accountability Court judge, Nasir Javed Rana, announced the judgment. Scheduled the next hearing for March 6, calling for five witnesses. Both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi denied the charges against them during the hearing. Earlier, the court had approved Imran Khan’s request to meet his wife. Directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to provide two copies of the reference to the defense counsel.

Khan, Bushra Bibi charged £190m NAB case.

Additionally, Imran Khan requested permission from the judge to consult his doctor for a dental checkup. Stating he hadn’t seen his doctor in seven months. In response, Judge Rana advised him to consult the jail medic, but Imran Khan expressed concerns about potential tooth extraction. The judge instructed him to file an application, leading to the deferment of the indictment until February 27 without further proceedings.

The background to this case dates back to March 2023 when NAB initiated an inquiry into the Al-Qadir University Trust case, later transforming it into an investigation in April of the same year. According to NAB, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi allegedly received large sums of money and hundreds of kanals of land from Malik Riaz of Bahria Town in exchange for Rs 50 billion paid as a settlement with the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA). The Supreme Court purportedly adjusted this settlement amount against a fine imposed on Malik Riaz.

In May, a significant contingent of Rangers arrested Imran Khan at the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) while he was seeking bail in multiple FIRs filed against him.

Subsequently, the IHC ruled Imran Khan’s arrest on the court’s premises as “legal.”
