Lahore: Pakistan’s largest biogas plant opened in Gujjar Colony on Sunday.
The recently inaugurated compressed Biogas Plant located in Gujjar Colony. Boasts an impressive capacity, capable of producing 600 cubic meters of gas daily. This eco-friendly initiative utilizes approximately 1,600 kg of dung. Each day to generate a substantial output of 16,000 kg of organic fertilizer.
The organic fertilizer derived from this Biogas Plant presents a valuable resource for both the Parks & Horticultural Authority (PHA) and local farmers. Not only does it provide an environmentally friendly solution for managing dung waste. But it also offers a nutrient-rich product that can enhance soil health and crop yields.
Following the plant’s inauguration, Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed the media, highlighting the positive impact of this initiative. He stressed that the plant’s operations would effectively manage the abundance of dung often seen on roads. Ultimately contributing to a cleaner environment. Moreover, the organic fertilizer produced by the plant holds significant economic potential. It can generate revenue for the PHA by selling it to the public.
Looking ahead, Naqvi proposed the implementation of an extension project for the biogas plant, underscoring its potential to further benefit local residents. Such an expansion would not only amplify the environmental and economic advantages but also provide additional employment opportunities and support sustainable development in the region.
Various dignitaries, including Provincial Caretaker Minister Bilal Afzal and key officials from the energy and information sectors, the Lahore commissioner’s office, the Chief Commissioner of Police (CCPO), the deputy commissioner, and other relevant authorities, attended the inauguration ceremony. Their presence underscores the significance of this initiative and reflects the collective commitment to promoting sustainable practices and environmental stewardship in the community.
